Classy, baby, classy!

This week's finds are ALL CLASS! or all glass. (mainly). I found a crystal and silver bowl - *just* in time for Thanksgiving, some very cool Air Force Academy glasses, and two rockin' state plates. I held back on the tacky this time! Or did I?!

A Good Old Fashioned Christmas....

My knickknack sourcing came to a halt this week so that I could partake in the age old tradition of stringing beer cans for the Christmas tree. Ahhh - Just like it was when I was a kid back in Appalachia.
Actually, Frock On Vintage in Austin has hired me to style their holiday window and I've finally found a way to put my husband's beer can collection to use! If you don't happen to be lucky enough to have a beer can collection, you can always start with a 6 pack and see where the night takes you. Enjoy!

Let's Put Our Heads Together ....

Today I found 3 Styrofoam heads (perfect for hats - need to find some!), a hot orange summer purse with Lucite handles, a sweet beaded pink number, an old school orange bowl, a creepy bleeding Jesus "Acapulco" souvenir, another flower plate (what's up with all of the flowers?!) and the most awesome log ashtray EVER!

Patent Leather and Bark

The past few days' finds range from a luxe orange patent leather purse to a bird painting on a bark-edged log. High/Low. Seriously. I've also found a kinda tacky / kinda awesome floral painting, a sweet little dish, a suede hippie satchel, and a photograph that amuses me (but might not anyone else ... we'll see) entitled "Interior Fragrance". If nothing else, I'll hang it in my bathroom.

Kitsch-tastic

Holy Toledo! (and I do mean "holy"...) This weekend's finds include some disembodied gold praying hands, a pirate mug, a weird matte black dog, and a super cheesy (yet wonderful) hummingbird vase. The only thing to redeem this big pile of kitsch is a lovely mid-century condiment server with wooden handle. Thank God for that!

No to the Nagel

Some goodies today! Although I had to say "no" to a Nagel. I reached my Nagel threshold - what I wouldn't spend on a Nagel!
What I *did* bring home with me was an awesome primitive painting, some deliciously kooky celebration and travel plates (anniversary, MGM hotel, creepy people singing, etc.), a dubious hula dancer statue (she just doesn't look like she's into it), some flower bowls, and a crazy eyed needlepoint cat (!). It was a good day....

Crazy for Asian

I've always been drawn to a Asian aesthetic or, probably more accurately, a Westerner's interpretation of an Asian aesthetic (think chinoiserie, or Whistler's Peacock Room). Today's finds were, for some reason, all kinda Asian! A plastic, faux lacquer serving tray, a small lacquer box, a cute silk purse, and a very cool (o.k., maybe not Asian) horse sculpture. I wonder what's next?

Speaking of, I am thrilled to announce that I am doing some sourcing for Frock On Vintage in Austin, TX. Please stop by and check us out!
